(2009) When Anne Rodick first started doing research at the Indiana State Archives she quckly identified a problem with the lack of indexes and finding aids available for genealogists. She decided to do something about it and approached the Friends of the Archives about a volunteer program. Though isolated projects had been completed by individuals wanting to see a certain collection processed or indexed, there was no formal volunteer program in place. Over twenty years later, the Friends’ Volunteer Program averages forty five to fifty volunteers a year. Our wonderful volunteers have indexed and processed a wide a variety of collections.
Anne continues to volunteer–indexing Naturalization records–driving weekly from her home in Bloomington, Indiana. She is also active in the Daughters of the American Revolution and Palentines. We are grateful she saw a need and did something about it.
